Parks & Amenities:

Our community has more than 60 acres of land designated for parks and recreational use. An additional 1,050 lineal feet of riverwalk is also available for your enjoyment, as well as school, regional and state facilities.

School Facilities

Recreation facilities are available at many of our community schools:

  • Three elementary schools offer 19 acres of playgrounds with three soccer fields and outdoor basketball
  • Middle School features an indoor swimming pool, full size gym, outdoor basketball, a softball and soccer fields
  • High School includes two gyms, a football stadium with track surrounding, and baseball field. Its new 50-acre athletic complex includes a new lighted soccer facility, softball field and eight tennis courts

Regional Facilities

Bunker Road Canoe Landing

  • Located three miles north of the City, on M99 in Eaton Rapids Township
  • 5 acre park featuring canoe, boat launch and picnic area

Hamlin Township Park

  • 4-acre park on Smithville Hwy. at the Grand River located north of the dam
  • Canoe launch, fishing and picnic area
  • 21 additional acres have also been set aside on South Clinton Trail, south of Township Hall.
  • Plans include a pavilion, picnic area, softball and baseball field

County Recreational Lands and Facilities

  • Eaton County Parks and Recreation Department owns 316 acres in seven properties.
  • Three of the parks are developed as day use facilities for recreational activities.

Fox Memorial Park

  • Swimming beach with related parking, picnic areas and natural areas

Fitzgerald Park on the Grand River

  • Ball fields, playgrounds, nature center, trails, picnic areas, fish ladder and sledding

Keehne Environmental Center

  • 17-acre park in Bellevue
  • Fishing, picnicking, nature trails and a playground

Dyer Kiln

  • Small historic preservation site with limited parking and picnicking outside of Bellevue

    Butler Park Access Site
  • .50-acre parcel located on the Battle Creek River in Bellevue
  • Boat launch, parking and picnic area.

The County is also developing the Lincoln Brick property located across the Grand River from Fitzgerald Park.

State Parks, Recreation and Game Areas

Within the six county area contiguous to Eaton County are six state park and recreation areas and thirteen state game areas.
